yellow

The best part of a warm, rainy February morning?

Testing out new rain boots.

I've go an obsession with yellow lately.
Maybe I'm itching for spring more than I thought...

Just popping in really fast to wish everyone a happy week! Over the weekend we snapped a few pictures of Lucy and I. She was more than willing to participate as long as we kept a chocolate doughnut dangling in front of her- whatever it take right? She would literally pose for a photo, hop down to get a bite and then resume her position on the stool. Not my proudest moment nutritionally as a parent but it was a special occasion.

Here's to my hopefully uneventful week!

Nursery Updates

First I'd like to thank Apartment Therapy for featuring our nursery this week here!  It was funny when I looked at it though because I had just changed it from the photos they used. I just felt like the greige walls were too serious and I wanted something a little "fresher" so we went blue. We also moved the map to behind the rocker (to keep it safer) and the bulletin board to behind the door. Lastly I decided I wasn't feeling the Ralph Lauren valance so I took it down and added a new white curtain rod. I swear I'm done thinking about it now, but I'm sooo much happier with it so it was worth the extra attention.

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!!!

needles and paint

I'd been so hung up on knitting christmas gifts and then birthday and baby things that I hadn't had the time to make myself much. I was excited to get a good start yesterday on a new "spring beret" in light lavender all for me.

On a nesting note I had a last minute change of heart on the paint color of the nursery and few other finishing touches which I'll share tomorrow. I had actually never been completely thrilled with the color and I tried really hard to love it but I just couldn't and my sweet husband took pity on me and repainted last weekend.

I hope your're all having a great week!

pinsperation thursday on friday

It's Friday, I can't believe it! I'm also officially full term today with this sweet baby. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone. It was like scary fast and a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. My first pregnancy was a breeze physically. I was fat, happy, and jolly. I sat behind a desk at my job all day and dreamed and planned for our first little one. This time I'm 20 lbs lighter than I was at this point with L- she is seriously the only work out routine anyone needs, this toddler never stops moving. Not that I'm complaining about the lack extra lbs this time but she tires me out. But on a more serious level I'm having awful problems with my sciatic nerve. The first time I had an episode was back around Thanksgiving. It took me by total surprise but thankfully it subsided for a while. Lately though it's come back fast and furious. Yesterday was by far the worst. I went to go put a movie in for Lucy when all of a sudden my right leg totally gave out and it was PAINFUL. I was literally "stuck" clinging to the buffet our television sits on for nearly 20 minutes. I didn't know what to do and Lucy just sort of stared at me. I finally got her to help bring me a chair that's on little caster wheels so I could wheel my way over to the couch with my good leg. It was both comical and awful all at the same time. I went to my regularly scheduled weekly ob visit and she gave a steroid to try so hopefully that will get me a little more "functional" as she put it. It was great to talk to her because she told me she once got "stuck" at her kitchen table. It made me feel better to talk to someone who got what I was going through. Anyways I hadn't really intended on sharing all that but I figure if I disappear for a bit you guys will know why.

This weeks picks are little of this and a little of that.

love this entry. it's tall, old, and oh so charming!

i've had this photo sitting on my desktop for months. i'm determined to replicate it for L this summer.

loving this blue wall color and grey tufted headboard for a teen room. so pretty.

oh that headboard and light blue blanket- perfect!

the farmhouse sink and silver bridge faucet i'll never get over, just so classic.

the perfect mudroom- although mine would have to have some baskets for storage.

the fridge of my dreams. i'm still trying to figure out why they make the freezers on standard models half the size of the fridge side? We have a side-by-side and I'd make way more meals ahead of time to freeze  if I had more room to put them.

as always you can find the links to these and more right *here*

I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!!!

thrifty find

On a recent trip to Goodwill I came across this giant gold mirror with pretty curvy lines. Now I've noticed lately that the Goodwill by my house has a nasty habit of marking up mirrors to a premium but I decided it was worth the effort to move a few things out of the way and look for a price on the back. The tag read $15.99, ok I'm listening... any cracks or scratches to the glass? Nope. Frame in good shape? Yup. Even better I saw that the back panel was screwed on as opposed to glued or taped so I knew it would be easy disassemble and paint the frame. Of course I had no idea where I would put it but since I'm a total furniture hoarder (you should see our garage) that didn't matter.

Unfortunately I didn't have the forethought to take a before picture but just imagine it in a brushed gold color with little black splatters. I sprayed the frame with KILZ primer spray paint and then painted it white and added a little glaze to bring out some definition- all supplies we had hanging out in the garage already. It ended up finding a new home in our foyer and is almost 3 x's the size of the old mirror that preceded it. We can't believe the difference in light and airiness it brings!

and just to keep it real, we may be shoe hoarders too...

I'm pretty happy about how it turned out and for $15.99 if we grow tired of it down the road we don't have to feel bad about changing things up.

Hope you guys are having a great week, I can't believe it's almost Friday. I'll do a Pinspiration Friday tomorrow because to be totally honest I spaced it today. Oh well, such is life. =)

be mine ♥

Valentines Day is alive and well here in our house. No fancy dinners out for us though, no ma'm. Because nothing says love like chicken fajitas and chips n' salsa. That and a gymnastics class later tonight. Does anyone else find it hard to pick things out for their men? My guy loves books so I decided on a gushy Shakespeare's love sonnets book. I went through and underlined and highlighted all my favorites and made little notes next to some of them to make the gift more meaningful. To appeal to his fun side I also got him a Parks and Recreation comedy book- it's one of our favorite shows to watch. I topped the books  with a homemade valentine and bundled it all together and threw in some of his favorite chocolates on the side.
Lucy received a little heart shaped notebook for coloring and drawing in, a new Olivia board book, a teeny box of chocolates and one of those fun walking dog balloons from the grocery store. She's still pretty easy to please, that's why I love this age. She and I had the perfect morning of having a Valentine Tea Party in bed while we watched Monster's Inc.. These are my favorite moments that I'll always remember.

I hope you had a fun and beautiful Valentines Day too! ♥

happy birthday sweet Lucy

Our sweet Lucy turned two yesterday and we had a little brunch in her honor to celebrate. It was wonderful being surrounded by all her family and friends and it was evident she soaked up and relished every minute of it. I really enjoy putting together these parties, they're like my love letters to her even if she doesn't remember them she'll always have the photos. So with that, get ready for one photo heavy post! Our working theme involved ballerinas and the colors blue and cream/white, silver and gold.

I used my silhouette cameo to do all the ballerina themed cutouts and different banners.

The kids at the party each received a ball jar snow globe to take home. The girls got ballerinas and the boys, army men.

The ballerina hanging garland was easy to make using a simple straight stitch on the sewing machine.

I found the vintage birthday figurine on Ebay.

Singing Happy Birthday

The kids made and decorated paper crowns.

*36 weeks pregnant and smiling through pure exhaustion- I think I fell asleep on the couch at 9 pm last night- very early for me!

who doesn't love present time?

after we got home from dinner last night it was time to play with everything- all at once of course!

My favorite part was when she put her new Felicity doll from Grandma on her new pony from Mimi . Watching her imagination really starting to take off is exciting. Two will be a great year!

Happy Birthday Princess! You are very, very loved!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

*note of course my mom and dad were both there but I know better than to  post pictures of my mom- she would kill me lol!
