happy new year!

Happy New Year friends! The trees and decor are down. Everything looks so stark in the house. I can't wait to start on the new projects this coming year will bring. Thank you for following along on my adventures this year from a sweet, sweet baby girl to a new home it seems like it all flew by with just a couple casual bats of the eyelashes. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday weekend.

maybe...

Maybe I have this insatiable urge to organize and purge due to the large influx of material Christmas brought us. It was a great holiday weekend despite the fact that every one but myself was sick at one point or another that week. Poor Lucy had the worst of it lasting 6 days. She's finally over it though and excited about the haul Santa and her family and friends gifted her with.

Even the kitty took a break. Next it was on to round II at Grandma and Grandpa's

The next days we went to Mimi and Grandpa's house to celebrate Christmas and Grandpa's birthday

Wait a minute we get to do this once a year? Awesome!

parring down

I don't know what it is about this after Christmas feeling but all I've wanted to do is clean, organize and purge. I can't help myself, it's time to trim the fat!

last minute "little" gifts

Wether it's a teacher, trash collector or in my case our mail carrier these sweet little boxes of chocolate make a thoughtful holiday thinking of you gift for the people who do so much for us throughout the year. I wrapped ours up with red and white bakers string and a card and it's good to go. One more thing checked off my list...

spiced pecans

Happy Saturday! I thought I'd share with you my coveted spiced pecan recipe just in case you're in need of a fairly simple last minute winter treat to bake. I like this recipe because it calls for little ingredients and most of them are things you probably already have in your pantry. I realize pecans are quite expensive so my tip to you is to try and buy in bulk. I got 2 lb bags from Costco for about $10 each. WARNING: finished product is what I assume crack in a bag must be like. Or like Pringles, "once you pop you can't stop!"

holiday round-up

We are now just seven days away from the big day and there is still so much to do. I'm in the throws of baking the second rounds of gingerbread blondies and roasting spiced pecans. Have you been on holiday eye candy overload like me lately? Here's a round-up of some of my absolute favorite images so far from this season. Enjoy!
