insert color here
It's finally so bright and sunny out here today in the arctic Midwest. I'm feeling the need to inject my blog with the shot of color so I'm going to shamelessly show off this beautiful sweater I received this week as a gift for baby Lucy from my friend Sue, who is a wonderful volunteer where I work. I know she spent quite a bit of time knitting it and it was so unbelievably thoughtful of her.
calling all buyers for P.B.
If I've ever seen something I'd love to have at least a copy of it's this antique side table. It's from our collection at work and when I discovered it around Christmas time I fell in love! It's legs are made from old sewing spools stacked on top of one another and the table top and middle are fashioned from the ends of super large spools. I'm guessing someone had the hook up at factory and decided to to get crafty. It doesn't look it but it's unbelievably sturdy too.

cute stuff arriving daily
I love finding packages on my doorstep even when I'm expecting them. I had this newborn outfit made on etsy through Paisley & Posies. She did a wonderful job and it's exactly what I envisioned- I just had to share! Now I just need a little butt to go in the skirt. =)
friday mish mash of happy
Happy Friday all! Just a view pretty things to look at to get the weekend started of right. It's always nice by the tenth grey day in a row outside to refresh!
I would also like to add that I recently discovered that slicing, dicing, and consuming fresh pineapple on a winter day can do wonders to lift the spirit.

diy: skirt please
The solution.
Super easy no-sew project. I had this rather useless space under my sink console in the master bath. I guess it's a place for the fancy ladies to keep their bench for when they sit down every morning to put on their faces. This sooo would never happen in this house and it dawned on me one day last week that more could be done with the area. After all one can never have too much storage space. All you need is a yard of fabric, a tension rod, heat and bond hem tape, measuring tape and an iron. Put it all together and voila!

it's always the little things
It's almost always the little things that make me the happiest. Like lots of sun on a really cold day or when you really love a dress at the store and it's like 75 million % off and they have one left and it's actually your size! Breakfast on the weekends or drooling over someones really great blog post. Today we walked the mall for a while (gotta get my prego exercises on) and we popped in Pottery Barn. I found the sweetest little bird mug. I LOVE bird things. Nick knows this and quickly took it from my hands and headed straight towards the register. Of course another mug is the last thing we need but who cares. So I challenge you to do something nice for yourself and celebrate the little things in life.

do good like charlotte
When I heard Charlotte Moss pledged $10,000 to help UNICEF aid children in Haiti today I was so happy. She has made a statement expressing hope that her gift will be matched and exceeded by others in the design industry. UNICEF is a cause very near and dear to me and if you'd like to donate too, go here. To read more about Charlotte's pledge, Go here.

patio envy
At the end of last summer I realized how underused our back screened-in patio truly was. Yes, there is a wicker love seat and coffee table positioned on the appropriate outdoor rug- and a few plants but that's really just the basics. It wasn't a space that I was excited to be in. One day, I came across this image from one of Bunny Williams' patios. It's featured in her book "An Affair with a House." The blue ceiling is what initially caught my eye. I was smitten and very inspired to do more with my seasonal space. I got as far as painting the ceiling blue, which my mother informed was very common in the Victorian era because they thought it would keep them cooler on warm days. Now with spring right around the corner, I can't wait to pick up where I left off. I'm brewing with ideas so stay tuned.

live like a transformer
What I wouldn't give to get my design hands on Megan Fox's recently purchased Los Feliz home bought for a reported 2.94 million. The home boasts 4 bedrooms and 5 baths with over 4,000 square feet. A lot of times I find it hard to connect with West Coast homes. This one however speaks to me with it's fresh bright, white rooms.
