The hands down favorite for best dressed goes to Mila Kunis in lavender Elie Saab. She looked amazing, feminine and glamourous! Did you watch? What did you think of Anne Hathaway and James Franco as the hosts? I wasn't a big fan it was a bit awkward but it was fun when Billy Crystal made an appearance. Do you think they keep him on standby backstage every year just in case things start going south? I've been dying to see the Kings Speech now I really can't wait!

smile
Just when we thought spring was in our midst last week we got blasted over night with more snow. Snow be darned i'm choosing to smile today because i can't wait to plant my booty on the sofa with popcorn an mercilessly critique the oscars (really the arrivals) on sunday and because i know that peony season is right around the corner.

atl. bartlett
I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about Atlanta Bartlett. I decided to hop on over to her online store Pale and Interesting. While it only ships to the UK right now its still worth a look for inspiration. See.......

treasure hunting we go
Wednesdays are one of my favorite days of the week. It usually involves a quick breakfast and a morning of knitting with my fab girl Jen. This week our knitting class as cancelled so we decided to drive to Midland Antiques in downtown Indy. I had't been there in about a year so I was pretty pumped. We had a great time. The merchandise was new (well new to us) and fresh but the prices were a tad inflated as seems to be the protocol there. We still had fun getting ideas for Jen's new place and swooning over some sweet pieces. The theme of the day really seemed to be about neat storage pieces.
love the grain sack chair and wardrobe
ghost chairs around a fun retro table
this little leather stool was way cool
i was dying for this mantel, i've always wanted one in my bedroom
the mantle seemed to be priced fair
this was so awesomely bad i just had to share!
this booth was merchandised really well
one of these little flat files would be so handy for card stock and other specialty papers, i've also never seen one so petite but at $90 it was a budget buster
jen contemplating a sweet little table (i still say you go back for it girl!)
a beautiful french headboard
an amazing iron grain sack bench
a 12 place setting set of vintage Limoges! talk about a sweet wedding present for someone! at $250 I thought it was a bargain.
this little minty green wood locker would make for a great mini pantry or even wardrobe for a child's room
the rust green chippy metal stand was way cool whatever is was for.

new items hit the shop
I just listed some new things to the Arkanoff Design Co. shop here. The weather is so nice today, I think we'll go for a little walk. Happy Friday!
looming spring swaps
decor pad
pure style home
I think a new lumbar pillow is just what I need to spark my interest in changing out the winter bedding. I've also been toying with a wallpaper accent wall like the one in the first image. I just need to pull the trigger.

saving the perfect sweater
I bought this pale pink cotton boyfriend sweater a couple of years ago at j. crew. I love it for it's versatility, it can be paired with a pretty dress (like today) or with my favorites jeans and tank. Not to mention it's a great transitional piece for fall to winter and winter to spring. I was so horrified when I pulled it from the wash a while back and found two small holes on the lower left hand front side. I shoved it in the closet with a giant sigh and didn't think about it for a while. Until Monday when inspiration struck and I decided it was worth mending. I cut out a simple flower shape using card stock and traced around it on some fabric remnants. I then strategically sewed on my pattern over the holes. I'm so glad to have my old friend back in rotation.

powder room update
I'll be updating the powder room addition link to include the new "chair rail" border I added recently. Cost of this project... $0. I used some leftover paint from the family room and a empty toilet paper roll to stamp it on. The room was a tad on the stark side before with the light walls. I think this adds just enough pop.
