Spring Greetings! Since I didn't have time to do a Welcome Spring post last week {or was it the week before last I've honestly lost track} I figured I'd snap a few photos yesterday of our Spring/ Easter decor around the house. Since I'm a little strapped for time again this morning I'll let the pictures do the talking...

happy monday
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Ours was not long enough but when are they ever? It did feel super productive at least. I finally got the inside of our entry coat closet painted and re- organized, we got our taxes done, Nick got the grass cut and I planted some more lavender, Lucy had tons of play time outside {she has developed quite a love for bubbles} and Grayson ate and slept peacefully {he is such a good baby!}. I wanted to share his announcement with you today.
Hope you have a lovely start to your week!

right now...
Happy {almost} Friday! I'm so ready for the weekend even if does entail a visit to have our taxes done, I'll just be relieved to have Nick home for a couple of days. This has been my first week on my own with the kids during the day. It's been a lot of good and a few challenges too- I am pooped though.
I made you guys a random list though of things I'm loving right now.
Tulips! They are springing up everywhere over night. I love the way they look so unruly after a day or too in a vase of water.
Burt's Bees' Dusting Powder. Our little guy can't get enough of this stuff, and we love that its all natural and talc free.
Some serious eye candy for knitters lives in this book!
The Miracle Wrap blanket. If you have a baby, want a baby or know someone having one this is a great gift. We use it nonstop to swaddle the baby with.
My new black crochet Toms. Perfect for spring and summer when I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm in desperate need of a pedicure!
Love this eye cream. Try it- you will too.
Hey look! It's my momma and Ree aka "The Pioneer Woman" at her book signing tonight in Indy. My sweet mom stood in line for quite a while to get me an autographed copy of her latest cookbook. I'm so grateful and a little jealous she got to meet her!
My new tunic from Rikshaw Designs. It's super lightweight so it can be layered with a tank or just worn as a beach cover-up. I bought Lucy a matching little dress. I couldn't help myself- I ordered them the day I decided to stop being in denial about the fact winter was over and we never got the snow I wanted.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging out with sweet Jen on her porch where she served yummy lemonade out of mason jars with fancy pants paper straws. In return I gave her my baby to hold and sniff for a while.
Dutch Doors. I've got a plan for incorporating them soon {I hope} more on this later though...
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a beautiful weekend!

daddy hotness
Happy St. Patty's Day and Saturday evening! Nick and I are celebrating with a couple of Rolling Rock beers {not Irish but at least the glass bottle is green right?} and some college Basketball {go HOOSIERS!}. This morning after breakfast while I was finishing up with Lucy I noticed Nick doing the dishes with a bottle in his pocket. Ladies, this is what I call "daddy hotness" it doesn't get much sexier than this does it? A guy helping out around the house {without even being asked} and multitasking! I count my blessings every day for this man.
cheers to leprechauns, rainbows and good guys!

baby love
After we put L down for her nap yesterday Nick and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather outside and subsequent natural light that flooded our sunroom by taking Grayson's newborn pictures. He was such a fun little subject!
Have a beautiful Thursday!!!
*Note we had the heat cranked up to 85 degrees out there so no babies were cold during the making of this shoot- just sweaty parents!

Grayson Nicholas
Introducing Grayson "Gray" Nicholas, born 3.7.12. He's 7lbs of cuddly goodness! We've been home for a full day now and we're beginning to figure each other out. The very first thing Lucy did when she met him was try to put her pretend lipstick on him and when we brought him home yesterday she immediately went and retrieved her barbie play hairdryer to blow dry his hair. I have a feeling this little guy is in for it with his big sister. Good thing he seems pretty chill and laid back so far.

note the lipstick in her hand...

totally in love with him- he's just so cozy

sew fun
I had a major urge to sew this weekend. A new Joanns location opened up nearby and I finally got to go. While I was browsing the fabric I decided on making the baby a pillow cover for his rocker and then a blanket. I'm totally obsessed with seersucker for the little man. It's just so cute and preppy.
I used my silhouette machine to cut out the template for the anchor and traced it on some scrap canvas I had. I love the blue against the grey knit throw.
And here's his blanket. It's so cozy. I will say that dot chenille is a bit challenging to sew because it has lots of stretch to it. It wanted to pucker a lot- I suggest tons of pins! The whale print is in a soft flannel.
And of course I'm learning slowly you can't make something for one child and not the other so Lucy needed one too.
I should have made her one a long time ago, she loves it.
I could sew and and sew and sew. I've enjoyed it so much lately. There are a couple of skirts and dresses I'd like to make L this spring. I'd love to take a class someday to learn more about my machine. I swear it's one of the best gifts Nicks ever given me. Does my man know me or what?

prayers
Our families thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by the deadly midwest tornadoes last week. The southern part of our start was particularly hard hit. My sweet father-in-law spent his Sunday driving down and taking relief supplies. If you'd like to help simply text REDCROSS {one word} to 90999 to donate $10. It's added to your monthly cell phone bill and is tax deductible.

{This} story grabbed me in particular. Hug your loved ones extra tight today!

pinsperation thursday
Hello Thursday! Lucy and I are just hanging out with the guy from the security alarm company this am while he updates our system. It's super mild weather again today so hopefully we can get outside in a little bit. In the meantime though here is my collection of notable pins I wanted to share with you this week!
I've been in love with Tori Spellings cool blue master retreat in her former Encino home since I saw it on their show. Now we finally know what color she used on the walls- it's Parma by Farrow and Ball. At $85 a gallon though I suggest a color match through my fave- Sherwin Williams. Their "Harmony" and "Duration" lines are my go-to's.
I'm totally obsessed with Sarah Richardson and her decorating style- here's a cool {link} to check out her family farmhouse retreat
I made this pasta for dinner last night and it was super easy, and very tasty! I added grilled chicken and some freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
recipe found {here}
I knit up a pair of {these} sweet baby booties yesterday. It was a really quick project and they'd make a great gift for any expecting mom or newborn baby.
and because I can't live without a little pink here's a super cute stool
Hope you have a beautiful day!
