spiced pecans

Happy Saturday! I thought I'd share with you my coveted spiced pecan recipe just in case you're in need of a fairly simple last minute winter treat to bake. I like this recipe because it calls for little ingredients and most of them are things you probably already have in your pantry. I realize pecans are quite expensive so my tip to you is to try and buy in bulk. I got 2 lb bags from Costco for about $10 each. WARNING: finished product is what I assume crack in a bag must be like. Or like Pringles, "once you pop you can't stop!"

holiday round-up

We are now just seven days away from the big day and there is still so much to do. I'm in the throws of baking the second rounds of gingerbread blondies and roasting spiced pecans. Have you been on holiday eye candy overload like me lately? Here's a round-up of some of my absolute favorite images so far from this season. Enjoy!

Can you stand it? They are Celia by Frye. Are you listening Santa baby? Size 8 in either shade of brown.... I know a girl can dream though, right? How about I just agree to cash in all my holiday/birthday chips for a while...

fireplace scapes

I've seen dozens of holiday mantle posts lately that are so pretty and inspiring but it got me to thinking... what am I going to do when the rush of the holiday decor is a fresh memory on January 1st and I'm left with a naked house?

snow and such

I feel like sometimes obvious rooms and spaces are overlooked when it comes to holiday decorating. This year I just added a couple of subtle festive touches to our master bedroom.

My salvation army chair is warmed up with a red silk pillow.

I ordered these teeny Pottery Barn stockings when Nick and I were first married.

We got a good laugh at them when they arrived- we've since upgraded to the standard issue size ; ) but now they have a fun spot above our respective sides of the bed.

my photo shoot was totally crashed

a fresh wreath hangs on the door to our balcony.

and speaking of balcony here's what it looked like out there Saturday morning.

I was so excited to see what the property looked like with it's first significant snow of the season.

I'm so thankful to be in this beautiful home, with my sweet little family.
