real life home pt. 1

As much as I love to indulge in starring at beautifully laid out magazines with breathtaking interiors, sometime I long for something a little more real. So here goes... my home. Imperfect sure,  but my most personal and cherished space. These photos come complete with power cords, junk mail, dog gates, dog toys, and flash glares. I didn't attempt to hide any of that. I often wonder how people like me take what they love from the blogs and magazines they read and apply them to real life. Like I said I make no claim to live in perfection, in fact with a limitless budget this space would more than likely look a little different. SO here's my fun challenge. Who wants share their space? I'd love to hear from you. Remember no cheating, no cleaning no sprucing just honest lived in spaces.

p.s. I'll invite you upstairs next Friday.

so cozy ♥

This space is perfection. Check out that floor! I could just cozy up on the bench with a good book and a dog or two right about......now. ♥

thank you

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action. Today my family and I give thanks to those who have paid the ultimate price defending and protecting all Americans.  ♥

race day

It's race day here in Indy. While I'm not going to the 500 this year, anyone who grew up here or has lived here for a period of time knows the excitement is in the air all over the city. Soon the Blue Angels will do their fly overs during the national anthem, it's always tradition to go outside for this because the loud thunderous planes inevitably turn around somewhere right above our house. It's so neat and powerful.  Good luck to all the drivers and godspeed!

retreat, retreat

I apologize for slacking this week. It's been a busy and interesting one complete with my great friends having their second child Wednesday (welcome to the world Maren!) and then there was the part where my p.d.a. was run over on a busy street. I'm trying to catch up but for now I'm definitely ready for the upcoming 3-Day weekend. I promise I'll do better next week...

mirror, mirror, on the wall

I always say when in doubt hang a fabulous mirror. They have a way of adding just the right touch of sparkle to a room while at the same time making the room feel so much more open, light, and airy.

elizabeth martin

Yesterday I showed you the home of Ali Wentworth and George Stephanopoulos that was featured in Elle Decor. Elizabeth Martin was responsible for that wonderful job and now here is another one of her spectacular creations. This is a home she did in East Hampton, NY. It just looks so effortless and comfortable, yet very modern and chic.
