Grayson Nicholas

Introducing Grayson "Gray" Nicholas, born 3.7.12. He's 7lbs of cuddly goodness! We've been home for a full day now and we're beginning to figure each other out. The very first thing Lucy did when she met him was try to put her pretend lipstick on him and when we brought him home yesterday she immediately went and retrieved her barbie play hairdryer to blow dry his hair. I have a feeling this little guy is in for it with his big sister. Good thing he seems pretty chill and laid back so far.

sew fun

I had a major urge to sew this weekend. A new Joanns location opened up nearby and I finally got to go. While I was browsing the fabric I decided on making the baby a pillow cover for his rocker and then a blanket. I'm totally obsessed with seersucker for the little man. It's just so cute and preppy.

I used my silhouette machine to cut out the template for the anchor and traced it on some scrap canvas I had. I love the blue against the grey knit throw.

And here's his blanket. It's so cozy. I will say that dot chenille is a bit challenging to sew because it has lots of stretch to it. It wanted to pucker a lot- I suggest tons of pins! The whale print is in a soft flannel.

And of course I'm learning slowly you can't make something for one child and not the other so Lucy needed one too.

I should have made her one a long time ago, she loves it.

I could sew and and sew and sew. I've enjoyed it so much lately. There are a couple of skirts and dresses I'd like to make L this spring. I'd love to take a class someday to learn more about my machine.  I swear it's one of the best gifts Nicks ever given me. Does my man know me or what?

The best part of a warm, rainy February morning?

Testing out new rain boots.

I've go an obsession with yellow lately.
Maybe I'm itching for spring more than I thought...

pinsperation thursday on friday

It's Friday, I can't believe it! I'm also officially full term today with this sweet baby. I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone. It was like scary fast and a bit more challenging than I had anticipated. My first pregnancy was a breeze physically. I was fat, happy, and jolly. I sat behind a desk at my job all day and dreamed and planned for our first little one. This time I'm 20 lbs lighter than I was at this point with L- she is seriously the only work out routine anyone needs, this toddler never stops moving. Not that I'm complaining about the lack extra lbs this time but she tires me out. But on a more serious level I'm having awful problems with my sciatic nerve. The first time I had an episode was back around Thanksgiving. It took me by total surprise but thankfully it subsided for a while. Lately though it's come back fast and furious. Yesterday was by far the worst. I went to go put a movie in for Lucy when all of a sudden my right leg totally gave out and it was PAINFUL. I was literally "stuck" clinging to the buffet our television sits on for nearly 20 minutes. I didn't know what to do and Lucy just sort of stared at me. I finally got her to help bring me a chair that's on little caster wheels so I could wheel my way over to the couch with my good leg. It was both comical and awful all at the same time. I went to my regularly scheduled weekly ob visit and she gave a steroid to try so hopefully that will get me a little more "functional" as she put it. It was great to talk to her because she told me she once got "stuck" at her kitchen table. It made me feel better to talk to someone who got what I was going through. Anyways I hadn't really intended on sharing all that but I figure if I disappear for a bit you guys will know why.

This weeks picks are little of this and a little of that.

love this entry. it's tall, old, and oh so charming!

i've had this photo sitting on my desktop for months. i'm determined to replicate it for L this summer.

loving this blue wall color and grey tufted headboard for a teen room. so pretty.

oh that headboard and light blue blanket- perfect!

the farmhouse sink and silver bridge faucet i'll never get over, just so classic.

the perfect mudroom- although mine would have to have some baskets for storage.

the fridge of my dreams. i'm still trying to figure out why they make the freezers on standard models half the size of the fridge side? We have a side-by-side and I'd make way more meals ahead of time to freeze  if I had more room to put them.

as always you can find the links to these and more right *here*

I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!!!

happy birthday sweet Lucy

Our sweet Lucy turned two yesterday and we had a little brunch in her honor to celebrate. It was wonderful being surrounded by all her family and friends and it was evident she soaked up and relished every minute of it. I really enjoy putting together these parties, they're like my love letters to her even if she doesn't remember them she'll always have the photos. So with that, get ready for one photo heavy post! Our working theme involved ballerinas and the colors blue and cream/white, silver and gold.

I used my silhouette cameo to do all the ballerina themed cutouts and different banners.

The kids at the party each received a ball jar snow globe to take home. The girls got ballerinas and the boys, army men.

The ballerina hanging garland was easy to make using a simple straight stitch on the sewing machine.

I found the vintage birthday figurine on Ebay.

Singing Happy Birthday

The kids made and decorated paper crowns.

*36 weeks pregnant and smiling through pure exhaustion- I think I fell asleep on the couch at 9 pm last night- very early for me!

who doesn't love present time?

after we got home from dinner last night it was time to play with everything- all at once of course!

My favorite part was when she put her new Felicity doll from Grandma on her new pony from Mimi . Watching her imagination really starting to take off is exciting. Two will be a great year!

Happy Birthday Princess! You are very, very loved!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

*note of course my mom and dad were both there but I know better than to  post pictures of my mom- she would kill me lol!
