treasure hunting we go

Wednesdays are one of my favorite days of the week. It usually involves a quick breakfast and a morning of knitting with my fab girl Jen. This week our knitting class as cancelled so we decided to drive to Midland Antiques in downtown Indy. I had't been there in about a year so I was pretty pumped. We had a great time. The merchandise was new (well new to us) and fresh but the prices were a tad inflated as seems to be the protocol there. We still had fun getting ideas for Jen's new place and swooning over some sweet pieces. The theme of the day really seemed to be about neat storage pieces.

apple crate book cubby

On our recent trip to Michigan I picked up this apple crate at my favorite antique shop located in Saugatuck. I didn't know exactly what I would do with it but who can't use an extra apple crate around the house, right? Then later on that same trip inspiration hit while shopping in my hometown of South Haven I  found this cute and colorful velvet rooster and a giant sunflower. They would look so cute standing on that apple crate, and taking it a step further why not hang the crate and use it to store books in the playroom. I finally got around to having it hung this week (at a kid friendly level of course) and I think it's so cute and functional. It's amazing what a $5 dollar old apple crate can do.

Just in case you missed Ms. Fosters' catskills victorian shabby shack in the New York Times yesterday... Grab a cup of coffee and buckle up. You're in for a generous dose of eye candy. Cheers to the weekend!

friday find: tea party lunch set

So, so, so cute! This little 13 piece cut glass set is perfect for a little girls tea party or for a breezy luncheon with the friends. The set includes 5 matching cups and 5 matching plate + 3 extra matching plates for spares. The plates have a raise ridge to accommodate the cups. The set is in excellent condition and if my daughter were a tad older I'd never let go of this it's too darn cute! This beautiful pair of crystal candlesticks will make any table sparkle! Both sticks are in excellent condition with no chips or nicks. They hold a standard size taper candle. Sticks measure at nearly 8'' tall and just under 3'' in diameter from the base. These would make a beautiful wedding or birthday gift, or maybe just treat yourself! For $7 why not?
