baby love

After we put L down for her nap yesterday Nick and I took advantage of the gorgeous weather outside and subsequent natural light that flooded our sunroom by taking Grayson's newborn pictures. He was such a fun little subject!

Have a beautiful Thursday!!!

*Note we had the heat cranked up to 85 degrees out there so no babies were cold during the making of this shoot- just sweaty parents!

Grayson Nicholas

Introducing Grayson "Gray" Nicholas, born 3.7.12. He's 7lbs of cuddly goodness! We've been home for a full day now and we're beginning to figure each other out. The very first thing Lucy did when she met him was try to put her pretend lipstick on him and when we brought him home yesterday she immediately went and retrieved her barbie play hairdryer to blow dry his hair. I have a feeling this little guy is in for it with his big sister. Good thing he seems pretty chill and laid back so far.

sew fun

I had a major urge to sew this weekend. A new Joanns location opened up nearby and I finally got to go. While I was browsing the fabric I decided on making the baby a pillow cover for his rocker and then a blanket. I'm totally obsessed with seersucker for the little man. It's just so cute and preppy.

I used my silhouette machine to cut out the template for the anchor and traced it on some scrap canvas I had. I love the blue against the grey knit throw.

And here's his blanket. It's so cozy. I will say that dot chenille is a bit challenging to sew because it has lots of stretch to it. It wanted to pucker a lot- I suggest tons of pins! The whale print is in a soft flannel.

And of course I'm learning slowly you can't make something for one child and not the other so Lucy needed one too.

I should have made her one a long time ago, she loves it.

I could sew and and sew and sew. I've enjoyed it so much lately. There are a couple of skirts and dresses I'd like to make L this spring. I'd love to take a class someday to learn more about my machine.  I swear it's one of the best gifts Nicks ever given me. Does my man know me or what?

prayers

Our families thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by the deadly midwest tornadoes last week. The southern part of our start was particularly hard hit. My sweet father-in-law spent his Sunday driving down and taking relief supplies. If you'd like to help simply text REDCROSS {one word} to 90999 to donate $10. It's added to your monthly cell phone bill and is tax deductible.

{This} story grabbed me in particular. Hug your loved ones extra tight today!

pinsperation thursday

Hello Thursday! Lucy and I are just hanging out with the guy from the security alarm company this am while he updates our system. It's super mild weather again today so hopefully we can get outside in a little bit. In the meantime though here is my collection of notable pins I wanted to share with you this week!

I've been in love with Tori Spellings cool blue master retreat in her former Encino home since I saw it on their show. Now we finally know what color she used on the walls- it's Parma by Farrow and Ball. At $85 a gallon though I suggest a color match through my fave- Sherwin Williams. Their "Harmony" and "Duration" lines are my go-to's.

I'm totally obsessed with Sarah Richardson and her decorating style- here's a cool {link} to check out  her family farmhouse retreat

I made this pasta for dinner last night and it was super easy, and very tasty! I added grilled chicken and some freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

recipe found {here}

I knit up a pair of {these} sweet baby booties yesterday. It was a really quick project and they'd make a  great gift for any expecting mom or newborn baby.

and because I can't live without a little pink here's a super cute stool

Hope you have a beautiful day!
