quick chair cover project results

A few simple supplies.

The whole thing took about 20 minutes from start to finish.

The results are fun and add interest to what use to be plain ole' chair covers. It was super easy. I used Microsoft Word with the stencil font and blew it up 300%. I printed them out on heaver card stock and carefully cut them out with an xacto knife. Next I pulled off the covers one by one then measured and centered the numbers and secured them down with blue painters tape. Lastly I stippled on the white craft paint. (I found that an uneven paint application looks better.) They dried quickly and I was able to put them right back on the chairs. The entire project cost me exactly $0 because I had all of the supplies just lying around the house.

So to recap here are all the supplies I used.

card stock
computer w/ word
printer
xacto knife or sharp box cutter
stiff craft brush
white craft paint or acrylic paint would work too
yard stick
painters tape

weekend project

I did tons of painting on fabrics in college. I've been itching to find a small project around the house for fun and thanks to these images, some new, some I ran across a while ago and I mentally stored I've got a pretty good idea of what I want to do. Last spring I bought plain moss colored slip covers from Pottery Barn to go over my dining room chairs. I decided that they needed a more individual identity- you know like the way inmates get their own numbers. Stay tuned for the final results.

good reading on a day like this

While it looks like this out my back patio:

Trixie love, loves the snow!

I've been reading up on the juicy controversy involving the NYT over at Decorno. If you haven't been following the latest start here and follow the link on that page to the article in question. Then go here for the "journalists" response/defense to said article. And lastly be SURE to stop by here for the icing on the cake. ENJOY!

white and bright

Lately I just feel all amore when I see spaces that are saturated with lot's of light and white. I don't now what it is. Maybe it's like a relfection of the way it looks outside at the moment. So calm, quiet and crisp. It's the best! It's the only time of year when it's ok to be a virtual shut-in because it's just so cold. By the way if I was the lucky owner of the kitchen in the first image I don't think I'd ever leave it.

my sale picks from wisteria

One main thing I'm going to accomplish this year is to spend less money and the money I do spend will be spent more sensibly. Fortunately for you this means I've got my eyes peeled for lots of good bargains that I will share. Wisteria is having their winter sale right now and here are my top picks.

If I had one of those giant master bedrooms that was just begging for more furniture I would totally love to snap up a pair of these French Chairs and place a simple wooden table in between with a stack of good books on top.
Reg. 899 on sale for $809.10

Because everyone needs a pair of Miniature Lamb Baskets on Wheels resting comfortably in their bookcase. Right?
Reg. $34 on sale for $13.60

How much better would this cute Beehive Hose Holder look in your yard or on your deck than that plastic wind-up thing your using now?
Reg. $179 on sale for $152.15

Somewhere over the course of the last couple of weeks I spotted pictures of a Wine Bottle Drying Wrack like this one on a blog the wrack was a decked out like a Christmas tree- I thought that was super clever. The possibilities are really endless with a sculptural piece like this.

For a well placed pop of color try this Pom-Pom Accent Pillow.
Reg. $59 on sale for $29.50

How sweet would a pair of these Small Swedish Style Chairs be tucked around a child's drawing table?

I might add an Orchid to it and enjoy it during the winter months on my dining room table.
